MyEcoWorld® compostable bags are made with GMO free corn and other non-harmful, compostable ingredients.

Feedback from our customers is MyEcoWorld® bags are very easy to open.

MyEcoWorld® compostable bags are made with corn, a renewable resource and every bag used instead of a conventional plastic bag helps reduce dependancy on fossil fuels.

MyEcoWorld® bags are certified to break down to leave no harmful residues and have no adverse effect on plant germination or growth. Conventional plastic bags take hundreds of years to break down and even then leave tiny pieces of plastic called microplastics, having an as yet unquantified effect on the environment, animal and human health.

This all said, the absolute best use of a MyEcoWorld® compostable bag is to fill it with food scraps, garden or other organic waste and put it in your backyard, municipal or commercial compost.

MyEcoWorld® bags are designed not to last forever and that's kind of the whole point of it all. They are intended to break down in the right conditions to leave behind no microplastics or other harmful residues. This doesn't mean they will break down in your cupboard. Simply store them in a cool dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight and they will be fit for purpose for a good 12-18 months.

MyEcoWorld® compostable bags break down when micro organisms such as bacteria, fungi and earthworms feed on the food scraps or yard waste in the bag, transforming it into nutrient rich soil. This ideally happens in a composting environment, which has the right conditions for these micro organisms to thrive and decompose the bag.

The thickness of MyEcoWorld® bags is tailored to suit each individual product use. Details can be found on the front of each pack.

MyEcoWorld® compostable bags and their organic contents, such as food scraps and yard waste, are designed to break down into their natural components in a composting environment, releasing nutrients and organic matter that can help fertilize plants and improve soil quality.

MyEcoWorld® bags are very durable and can be used and re-used for all the things you might use a conventional plastic bag. After use, we recommend you fill MyEcoWorld® bags with food scraps or cut them into strips and put them in your backyard, municipal or commercial compost.

In commercial composts MyEcoWorld® compostable bags are certified to fully biodegrade/decompose in 3-6 months and in backyard composts in 6-12 months. How quickly they biodegrade depends on the conditions they are exposed to on disposal. This include temperature, moisture, oxygen and the presence & type of microorganisms. In commercial facilities, MyEcoWorld® bags will often break down much more quickly than than the certified 3-6 months.

The absolute best way to use a MyEcoWorld® compostable bag is to fill it with food scraps, garden or other organic waste and put it in your backyard, municipal or commercial compost. Compostable bags will decompose if buried in the garden, however care needs to be taken to ensure they contain only appropriate organic waste and to keep in mind the time frame to compost will vary depending on the environment.

While MyEcoWorld® bags are non-toxic, there are better foods around and we recommend you leave them for the worms to eat!

MyEcoWorld® compostable bags are strong and practical and can be used and re-used for all the things you might use a conventional plastic bag. In the case of a carry bag, once you have used the bag, you can fill it with food scraps or cut it into strips and put it in a backyard, municipal or commercial compost.

Yes

MyEcoWorld® compostable bags are made with at least 30% GMO free corn starch and other compostable ingredients.

Don't be deceived by the silky, soft feel of MyEcoWorld® compostable bags. They are very durable and perform similarly to a conventional plastic bag.

MyEcoWorld® is an Australian owned and operated company and our bags are made in our own state of the art manufacturing facilities based in Malaysia and China. Our ultimate goal is to be able to build manufacturing facilities close to the markets we serve to further benefit our carbon footprint.

MyEcoWorld® bags are not conventional plastic, they're made with plants, GMO-free corn to be specific, and other compostable ingredients. This means they break down in compost along with other organic material, such as food scraps and yard waste, to make nutrient rich soil. Soil that is free from harmful residues and can be used by farmers and gardeners to grow healthy crops, plants, and flowers.

At a purely scientific level, MyEcoWorld® bags decompose into water, carbon dioxide and biomass / organic matter.

Our bags do cost more than fossil fuel-based plastic bags.

There are a few reasons. The first is the sustainable raw materials we use to make our bags are more expensive than the fossil fuels used to mass-produce regular plastic bags.

Second, as a growing market, we have not yet achieved the economies of scale that larger manufacturers benefit from. This means our production costs are currently higher, but we are working towards reducing these costs as our production volume increases.

Third, we’re refusing to compromise on quality. We’ve made our bags tough, so they do their job properly and perform just like a regular plastic bag. So you have no worries about our bags splitting or breaking.

Regarding pricing, our 3-gallon food waste bags are approximately 3 cents more, and our 13-gallon bags are about 10 cents more than their conventional counterparts. We are working daily to get costs down so more people can make the choice to be sustainable!
